How to Make a Sensor (Part 1)

How to Make a Sensor (Part 1)

The first video of a never-ending series “How to Design a Sensor.”

Why create this series?

Honestly, I don’t know how to do this! And that’s exactly why I wanted to start this series. Electronics are intimidating, and I’m no genius. But I’m going to figure out how to make a sensor, so why not document it? My hope is to 1) create valuable content and 2) show others that I actually have no idea what I’m doing. But if I can figure it out then so can you!

What kind of sensor am I trying to make?

A turbidity sensor! Why? Because classical turbidity sensors cost between 10,000 - 100,000 EUR and I really wanted to make one that’s affordable and open-sourced. If you want to learn more about this crazy sensor idea and the motivation behind it, check out this video.

Sooo… what happens in this video?

In the first video of this series, I just try to determine what kind of parts I need (not such an easy task). And then start soldering!

Hope you enjoy the series!
